me: Hi!
customer: Hi! This place is so nice.
me: I’m glad you like it. Do you want a table for one?
customer: Oh, no, I’m meeting my friend here.
me: Okay! Well, you can take a table right now if you want and I’ll point your friend in your direction, or you can hang out wherever you like until they get here.

(customer eyes a nearby fountain)

customer: I think that she’ll want to be near the water.
me: What?! Is your friend a FISH?!

(15 second of staring at each other in silence)

customer: I think I’ll just wait out front.
